WB Animation cited the constant devotion of fans to the DC Comics series as reason for its renewal, saying in a statement “The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,” said Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, in a statement. "We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”
In terms of the story for the third season, Warner Bros. promises “new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes.”
Original series producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti will return to the show.
UPDATE: Greg and Brandon have spoken to Comicbook.com to thank fans for their continued support.
Brandon particularly noted online support from fans is reason for the renewal, saying "I just want to pass along a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all the fans that supported Young Justice and never gave up hope. I am truly amazed and grateful that so many of our fans all over the world were able to come together and make their voices heard. Young Justice season 3 is happening because of them!"
Greg told Comicbook.com "I am incredibly psyched to be going back to Warner Bros. and Young Justice. I start at [Warner Bros.] on Monday, 11/14. And can't wait for Brandon and I to dig in and get our hands dirty."
