The new Timeline article (great addition, BTW) makes note of the fact that September 4th is the night of the full moon.

I haven't actually checked the dates, but that reminded me that when I was re-watching the whole series a few weeks ago, it occurred to me that every time we saw the moon it was completely full. I suspect this is a production/annimation issue or perhaps I should say artistic convention that shouldn't be noticed.

Otherwise, this is telling us something pretty profound about the moon in the Earth-16 universe. It IS perfectly possible that this world has the face of the moon illuminated by some source other than or additional to direct sunlight, so that the side facing the Earth is always constantly illuminated. I'm sure any Green Lantern could arrange that on his own with a little ingenuity (giant mirrors and such). Not sure why anyone would WANT to, but not impossible in a DC universe.
