On the Earthly plane, the Tower is accessed from a park in Salem, Massachusetts. However, the Tower is completely invisible and intangible unless summoned by Doctor Fate. The interior transcends time and space and is much larger in size than what the exterior suggests. As a precaution, the Justice League is in possession of a key that grants access to the Tower of Fate—when the key is inserted as if into a lock, the Tower appears around it.
A ghostly guardian resembling Kent Nelson welcomes visitors to the Tower and determines whether they are friend or foe. Friends are granted access, whereas foes are dropped into a pool of lava.
The Team arrived and entered the Tower in search of Kent Nelson, having been sent by Red Tornado. However, they were followed by Klarion, Teekl, and Abra Kadabra, who wanted to steal the Helmet of Fate. Two battles soon took place at the Tower and on the rooftop that resulted in the death of Kent Nelson and defeat of Klarion and Abra Kadabra.
