  • What? They still care? Sorta. Kind of. Anyways, Cartoon Network has made a list of their 10 biggest "WHAT?!" moments from YJ s2. Enjoy.

EDIT: The URL for this blog post is no longer in use and has disappeared from Cartoon Network's website since their major site remodel. Attempts to recover the blog by browsing through their older posts has proven futile. The blog (and any association with DC Nation as a whole--except TTG) has been erased. So, my compadres, you'll have to settle for a best scenes compilation ... from season one.

They'd better be, for their sake as well as for ours. Otherwise, they're gonna lose a lot of viewers and their whole network is gonna go down the drain. But in the meantime, we need to keep on campaigning and knocking at their doors.

Actually haven't heard that before. I'm not going WHAT?? I'm going WHAT THE FUAAARRRRRRRGHHHHH. It's getting me raging again. • It's not cancelled. It was postponed. There are more episodes, and while CN doesn't have any for Jan 2014, Teletoon (Canada) has two, "Attraction" and "Fall". That's episodes 12 and 13, no news on anything after that.

    • They won't, don't get your hopes up. Unless they're going to call a comic continuation "Young Justice Season Three", like they did with Buffy Season 8 and Smallville Season 11.

    • Omnimator wrote: I hope they do a season 3

Kind of a random thread to say that.

I hate to sound pessismistic, but there's probably no chance of it being renewed. Because it all depends on toy sales, which didn't give the goods, i.e. the big $. Comic sales weren't strong enough either to continue without a cartoon. It even retooled itself for season 2, and that didn't help either (and I don't mean it did that to help sales, but one could say that would be one way to help.) It could return many years later like BB, but that has none of the people involved from the cartoon.

There's no logical reason for TPTB to continue it. Sorry.

    • Change.org has petitions on bringing Young Justice, so go to Change.org and support the show to come back.

        Loading editor
    • Change.org won't change a thing. The powers that be have already said no to numerous ideas, including crowdfunding.

        Loading editor
    • Has an online petition ever brought back a cartoon?

        Loading editor
    • Allegedly, Kim Possible season 4. Though that wasn't a petition, per se, but fan outcry. Though there are other stories about that.

        Loading editor
    • Oh, yeah. Completely forgot about that.

        Loading editor
    • Than let's do a fan outcry, let's them know we the fans deserve Young Justice to come back with a third season. We will not allow them to cancel another DC series like they did with The Legion of Super Heroes.

        Loading editor
    • It's not cancelled. It's simply not renewed for a new season (the same goes for LoSH).

There have been numerous petitions, donation drives, angry letters, nice letters, and every other thing you can think of. They said no. We're definitely not getting an animated season 3.

There was a slight hope that there will be a comic book continuation, but all of Greg Weisman's pitches have been declined.

        Loading editor
    • Even after that fan outcry, I believe KP only returned three years later. KP was also renewed because it's owned by a different network that saw things differently, among other things.

    • So we just allow the stupid directors to leave the show in a cliffhanger? That's bull crap! I will not allow it!

        Loading editor
    • RentonElric wrote: So we just allow the stupid directors to leave the show in a cliffhanger?

I think you mean the producers and/or writers. The directors are just hired employees (not to make their work any less important). And it's not one crew member on the show that can be blamed as it's not their fault, and it's not within their power to bring it back, so the majority of you out there that are asking GW and BW on Twitter to bring it back are wasting their breathe.

It was left open-ended. I'd say cliffhanger, but those are more where major plot threads and more importantly lives are left in hanging in the balance. And YJ had pretty much wasn't in that demographic.

That's bull crap! I will not allow it!

You and many, many, many others. But whining and complaining about won't bring it back.

        Loading editor
    • Also, it's not a cliffhanger. Just an open end. A cliffhanger would be if it ended just before the world was saved.

        Loading editor
    • Didn't I say that? I guess I said cliffhanger when it isn't.

I'd say it's more of a tease, considering that season 3 would've probably revolved around what was being hinted at. If it wasn't, it would've been done somewhere in the middle and more subtle.

        Loading editor
    • So what are they going to do? Make a new season or a new series?

        Loading editor
    • No.

        Loading editor
    • RentonElric wrote: So what are they going to do? Make a new season or a new series?

I think you already know the answer to that. (Which is still no, otherwise we already would've been talking about it.)

        Loading editor
    • So what will they make next?! What is the next DC series that they will make?!

        Loading editor
    • Teen Titans Go! is still going. For the rest, I don't think Cartoon Network has made any plans for future DC series public.

        Loading editor
    • This thread is deviating from its intention, but to answer your question the newest cartoon will be Vixen, and it will air on the CW Seed. I think it's a web series because I've never heard of CW Seed until the announcement of the cartoon. You'll have to look it up yourself for better details.

    • Superhero cartoons for all ages aren't being written to be serious, but for more comedy. I don't think we'll be seeing another YJ type until the fad is over.

    • The chances of any series along the lines of YJ returning to Cartoon Network are slim to none, because CN is going the route of comedic cartoons aimed at younger children. The live action series and the DCAU DVDs are what DC/Warner now targets to the teen and young adult demographics (which YJ was primarily aimed at).

About all I can add is to cross your fingers on the proposed live-action Titans series and hope for the best.

We're not supposed to talk about this because it upsets people.

True, the most recent (ToA) as it happens screams YJ to me.

I agree. This unfortunately means that we won't get a live-action adaptation of YJ itself because I seriously doubt two exact same shows would be greenlit. It would be majorly redundant. At least we're getting something.

    • The art is more or less the same, and there's even a cameo by Cassie.

        Loading editor
    • Ahh did u mean Throne of Atlantis? oh i watched it. Honestly it was just meh. They butchered the story arc from comics.

I thought da 1st one JL-war was ok. Even tho da art never really copied Jim Lee style like dey used to wid da older DCAU films. They used to atleast try to copy da art of da artist of the comic which da movie was adapted. Oh well we can't hav everything I guess.

For a sec I thought there was some new series dat was copying YJ. Sigh.

        Loading editor
    • That's not a "cameo", it's a reused character model. Babs and Snapper are in there as well (they're in the tsunami scene). There ae probably more familiar background characters, it's cheaper to reuse them than creating new ones.

The art is Bourassa-style, like most recent animated movies, all the way back to Doom. As for whether you should check it out... I think the New 52 animated movies aren't worth the time and money. But that's just me. And many others.

I hold Jim Lee personally responsible for all the bad art of the 90s, so I don't mind. The guy can't draw women, or motorcycles. Or men. Backgrounds look okay, but that's about it.

    • Yeah ur right Tupka. The script n animation quality r really dipping in quality nowadays. The Last ones I really liked was Public Enemies n Apocolypse cuz they tried 2 be lil more faithfull to deir sources. Now dey r just cashin it in.

    • lol I dun type dis way to be cool. I am just a lazy typer so sue me. And I am proud dat i'm an Idiot.

I like Jim lee, his 'Hush' arc in the Batman was mind bendin. But I think he doesn't even put any effort nowadays. His 'Superman Unchained was horrible. Plot n art wise. But my fav artist is Alex Ross Shame he isn't in more stuffs.

        Loading editor
    • Hush was written by Jeph Loeb (and IMO, not as good as his Year 1.5 trilogy). While many consider it the last time Lee put some effort in his art, I still find the art egregiously bad.

Alex Ross' art takes a lot of time to make, plus he usually uses models and photo reference. He mostly does covers, nowadays. You can find his work on Busiek's excellent Astro City.
