I've recently just created a series of redirect articles from production numbers (i.e. 101) to episodes (i.e. Independence Day). That got me thinking about what should constitute a redirect. Should real names constitute a redirect, such as one from J'onn J'onzz to Martian Manhunter? Should full names constitute one, such as Zatanna Zatara to Zatanna? And what about first names to first and last names, like Whisper to Whisper A'Daire? I think that for clarification, we should have a policy on what should constitute the creation of a redirect, since there are inconsistencies with redirects left behind from renaming pages. With redirects, I am firmly of the opinion that less is more. We absolutely don't, for example, need redirects that are the same as the actual title but all lower case. That's dealt with by the search function, and people should be linking directly to the correct title anyway. BUT, I can see an argument for redirects when characters are known by different names in different episodes and revealing that the characters are the same would be a spoiler. For example, L-2 and Ra's al Ghul or, even more importantly, Lawrence Crock and Sportsmaster (which Greg Weisman still seems to think hasn't been revealed, even though he wrote the back of the Mattel action figure case that revealed it explicitly). -- Supermorff (talk) 09:31, March 17, 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Supermorff. ― Thailog 14:38, March 17, 2012 (UTC)
