Cape Canaveral is a cape in Florida, home to a rocket launching facility.

History[]

2010[]

Cape Canaveral
August 19, 20:48 EDT

Ra's al Ghul hijacked a rocket at the base to launch a diamond lens into orbit that would serve as a weapon of mass destruction. Batman and Robin stopped him.[1]

2016[]

Cape Canaveral
March 19, 20:59 EDT

Ferris Aircraft and the Justice League worked together to launch an Earth-Mars Communications Satellite. An hour before the scheduled liftoff, Carol Ferris and Martian Manhunter gave a press conference at the Kennedy Space Center, which was usurped by G. Gordon Godfrey.

Later, Kaldur'ahm's troops attacked the rocket. Ferris shortened the countdown and the rocket was launched. The Team managed to beat back the attack, but the rocket was stopped nonetheless because Black Manta had smuggled a bomb aboard.[2]

Background information[]

  • The episode "Depths" makes the common error of placing the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral. In fact, Cape Canaveral is home to the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, with the Kennedy Space Center located on nearby Merritt Island. The two bases are closely linked, so it is possible the satellite was launched from the Cape Canaveral Station with the mission controlled from Kennedy Space Center, as was the case for early Apollo missions, for example.
